(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Guangqi was severely persecuted over the past 13 years by the Chinese Communist Party. He has been illegally arrested, held in detention, beaten, tortured, had his land allotments confiscated, and was forced to beg for food. He died on June 19, 2012, at 58 years old.

Once Disabled, New Life after Practicing Falun Gong

Mr. Wang Guangqi was born in 1954 in Jiuquanyu Village, Taoxu Town, Mengyin County, Shandong Province. He was a talented and diligent student when he was young, and was always among the top in his class. He became a primary school teacher after graduating from secondary school.

When Mr. Wang was around 26, his back suddenly started to hurt. He went to see the village doctor and was prescribed some herbal medicine. Unfortunately, after the treatment, he got worse. His spine became curved. Then he developed femoral head necrosis and could not separate his legs. He could only get around slowly on crutches and could not change clothes by himself. He could not work anymore and never married. In order to cure the femoral head necrosis, he went to see a private doctor and had to pay 1,300 yuan for the drugs. All the money he spent he had to borrow. His face and head were swollen. His neighbors thought he was dying. He was on the brink of death.

In 1988, Mr. Wang began practicing Falun Gong. After a while, his color improved, he could separate his legs a little bit, and he could walk with the use of only one crutch. He no longer suffered from pain even though he had not completely recovered. He also could look after his paralyzed elderly brother and farm his own allotments, helping others at the same time. He could not have imagined doing such a thing in the past. People in his village all witnessed his improvement after he started practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Wang’s hope in life was rekindled. He enjoyed his life in everyday cultivation.

Harassed for Clarifying the Facts

On January 19, 2000, the Party secretary of Jiuquanyu Village, Fang Guoming, deceived Mr. Wang into going to the village office for a meeting. Mr. Wang was then taken to Taoxu Town Hall and detained there with other Falun Gong practitioners. Each practitioner was “fined” 220 yuan, but Mr. Wang did not have any money, so he was held at the local finance office. On the evening of February 1, dozens of people including Mo Guangli, Bao Xitang, Qin Chengzhi, and Lai Xianlu, used tree branches to beat him until he was covered in bruises and cuts. They hit his head with chair legs, and the blood covered his clothes.

After he was released, officials from Taoxu Town still harassed Mr. Wang. In order to avoid further persecution, he had to leave his paralyzed brother and went to live on a mountain. There was no food there, so his village neighbors took turns bringing him pancakes so he could survive.

Because Dafa was being treated unfairly and Falun Dafa’s teacher was wronged, Mr. Wang wanted to do something to seek justice for Dafa. In March 2002, he went to Beijing to appeal. He held a banner and shouted on Tiananmen Square, “Falun Dafa is good!” He was arrested and was taken back to the Taoxu Town Police Station by Li Changxiang, deputy director of the station; Shi Yunduan, head of the Taoxu Town 610 Office, and Fang Guoming, Party secretary of Jiuquanyu Village. On the way to the station, Shi Yunduan said, “If we spend 5,000 yuan to hire a thug to kill you, you would disappear from the human world and nobody would ever know what we did.”

After arriving at the Taoxu Police Station, officer Diao Chuanjun forced Mr. Wang to face the wall and handcuffed him. An officer behind Mr. Wang said to his colleague, “Have you finished digging the hole?” The other one replied, “Already one meter deep.” The police wanted to bury him in the mountain, but they were afraid the news would be leaked, so they transferred him to the local town hall, detained him there for seven days, then released him.

Forced by the Chinese Communist Party to Beg

In the spring of 2002, Party secretary of Jiuquanyu Village Fang Guoming, Shi Yunxiang, Wang Zhaoyang, and Li Xiangyan went to Mr. Wang’s home and broke his pots, bowls, pans, and knives, which was all he had, into pieces. His pancakes were destroyed and thrown on the ground. That was all there was in the house. Mr. Wang is disabled and cannot work to earn a living. His elderly brother, a non-practitioner, has been paralyzed since he was young. His brother’s house was little more than a pile of stones covered with plastic on top. There was a bed made of straw with a tattered, ancient blanket. These were all of their possessions.

Shi Yunduan and Fang Guoming ordered people to block up the door to Mr. Wang’s house and his windows with stones. Fang Guoming also sent people to monitor him in shifts and not allow him to leave. At the same time they forbade anyone to give him any water and food. Mr. Wang was tortured so badly that he couldn’t stand up at all. Fang Guoming broadcast to the whole village, “Whoever gives food or water to Wang Guangqi will be punished. Leave him to starve to death.” Mr. Wang told someone later that he did not know who secretly left a few pancakes and water near his home, which helped him to survive during those 20-plus days.

Fang Guoming also decided by himself to confiscate all of Mr. Wang’s land allotments (his field and a vegetable garden), which had been his sole livelihood. Mr. Wang’s other allotment, a chestnut grove worth 15,000 yuan, was put up for sale by Fang Guoming as well. Mr. Wang then lost any way to support himself. He had to beg for food to support himself and his brother.

Mr. Wang’s middle brother, a non-practitioner, exposed the crimes of the local officials when he heard that Fang Guoming was selling Wang Guangqi’s allotments. Local officials Li Zhenguo and Wang Zhaoyang from the Taoxu Town 610 Office then kicked and punched Mr. Wang’s middle brother, grabbed him by his throat, and choked him for a long time. Mr. Wang’s middle brother was fined 2,000 yuan.

The people in the village were angry with Fang Guoming’s crimes and how he treated Mr. Wang. It was said, “Fang Guoming is so cruel! It is wrong to confiscate Mr. Wang’s allotments. Even people given the death penalty are given food. Besides, Wang Guangqi has not done anything wrong. It is too much!”

Mr. Wang’s brother died in 2011, terrorized and intimidated. Mr. Wang died on June 19, 2012.
