June 11, 2013 | By a Minghui correspondent from Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Xudong from Tangshan City, Hebei Province, was arrested on November 3, 2012, and her home was ransacked. She has been held in custody in Tangshan City No.1 Detention Center ever since. During this time she has been forced to do labor and wear a black hood. Her family has not been allowed to visit her and they are very worried.

Professional life

Ms. Wang, born in 1985, graduated from the Japanese Department of Tangshan TV and Broadcast University. She worked as a consultant in technical training schools, as well as after-school programs for middle and primary school students. She had a good reputation among her managers and colleagues.

Her health improved after practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Wang was born with congenital heart disease and suffered a lot. If she did any physical exercise, her heart rate would greatly increase and she would have difficulty breathing. She often had to get intravenous infusions. In time, the nurses started to have trouble finding a vein to insert the needles. Her condition was quickly cured after she started practicing Falun Gong.

Arrest

Seventeen officers from the Tangshan Police Department, Lubei Police Department, and Dali Road Police Station broke into her home at around 3:00 p.m. on November 3, 2012, but she was not in. The officers searched the home and confiscated her desktop computer, notebook computer, and some of her books. They located her through surveillance systems and arrested her and Ms. An Qiufen, who was dining with her, at a restaurant near the Xiaoshan area at around 5:00 p.m.

In custody

Ms. Wang’s whereabouts during the first five days after her arrest is unknown, but she was subsequently incarcerated in the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center. Her mother, Ms. Zhou Guirong, was detained by her employer, Lunan Hospital, on November 4, the day after her daughter was arrested. Ms. Zhou was released several days later. Ms. An’s home was ransacked by the Wenbei Police Station and the residents committee. They took her computer, personal ID, and bank cards. The next day she was sentenced to detention for 15 days.

Ms. Wang is still in the detention center. Because she refused to wear the detention center uniform, she was forced to wear a black hood. The guards also tried to brainwash her and did not let her sleep. The detention center forced her to do slave labor, including packaging gloves.

Ms. Wang’s parents asked the Lubei Police Department about her arrest. Officer Zhao Lufei said that her case was under investigation and so would not discuss it. Her parents went to the detention center many times to visit, but they were not allowed to see her.

Beginning cultivation

Ms. Wang began practicing Falun Dafa with her mother in July 1998, after she saw Master Li Hongzhi’s picture in a magazine. She somehow recognized the photo, and immediately decided that he was to be her teacher.

When Ms. Wang was in middle school, her mother was detained. Because her father was busy with his full-time job, had to take care of his elderly parents, and had to find ways to visit her mother, who was incarcerated, she had to stay at the boarding school. Her teachers pressured her to write a guarantee statement promising to quit practicing Falun Dafa and threatened that they would expel her from school. They indeed suspended her for a month. She was hurt, as she previously had outstanding academic performance. After that, her grades dropped and never recovered.

Ms. Wang has been detained for more than six months. Lubei Police Department and Dali Road Police Station still will not give any reason for holding her. Her parents did receive an arrest notice. They are very worried about her.
