Paris: Chinese Tourists Quit the CCP during Holiday Shopping Season

December 29, 2013 | By Falun Gong practitioners in Europe

(Minghui.org) Chinese tourists are known for their purchase of luxury goods during their oversea trips. Lafayette, the famous department store in Paris, is a regular stop for Chinese visitors. Falun Gong practitioners have taken this opportunity to talk to Chinese tourists there ever since the beginning of the persecution.

Overseas customers form long lines to take advantage of the sales tax return service at the store. (Foreigners who make purchases in Europe can be reimbursed for part of the high sales tax with proof of visitor status.) As visitors wait in line, Falun Gong practitioners talk to them about the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution – information that Chinese people cannot hear back home. As a result of learning the facts, many Chinese have chosen to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations.

Ready to Quit the CCP

On one occasion, a Falun Gong practitioner met with Chinese shoppers and shared a story: “After quitting the CCP for himself, a Chinese visitor also persuaded others in his group to do the same. He made up aliases for them. They told me one by one which organizations to resign from – the CCP, Communist Youth League, and/or the Young Pioneers. I quickly wrote down what they told me. These tourists were happy about quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Some kept murmuring their aliases with joy.”

Shoppers Eager to Receive Falun Gong Information

A practitioner carried over 200 pieces of truth-clarification literature with her. The materials were used up very quickly over the busy holiday shopping season. As a Chinese tour group leader exited the store with his purchases, he asked the practitioner, “Is this material from Falun Gong?” When the practitioners said, “Yes,” he replied, “OK. Can you give me more materials? I want to give a copy to each member of my group.”

Entire Bus of Chinese Tourists: “Falun Dafa is Good!”

Sometimes, the long wait time for sales tax returns provides good opportunities for practitioners to engage in more in-depth discussion with Chinese tourists.

On one day, a large tour bus arrived at the store. Some of the passengers spoke in a dialect from northeastern China, while some were clearly from Shanghai. They initially resisted hearing the truth, and some were not very polite.

The Falun Gong practitioner told them that Li Dongsheng, the director of the 610 Office was under investigation by the CCP, while Zhou Yongkang, the former head of the Domestic Security Division was under house arrest. The practitioner also spoke of the crimes of Wang Lijun and Bo Xilai, two high-profile cases in the CCP power system earlier this year. The practitioner explained that their real crimes were forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience and promoting the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

The practitioner displayed a poster about organ harvesting in China. The Chinese shoppers were startled. They read the poster silently. When they were about to board their bus, the practitioner handed them some informational materials at the door. One passenger took all materials and said, “Let me help you distribute them to everyone on the bus.” As the practitioner began to walk away from the bus, she heard the entire group call out, “Falun Dafa is good!”
