Retired Teacher Taken to Wuhan Brainwashing Center after Serving a Five-Year Term

( Mr. Peng Xinhua, 75, is a retired teacher from Guangshui City, Hubei Province. While visiting his family and friends in Xinjiang, he was arrested on December 6, 2008, for talking about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was sentenced to five years and taken to Xiashuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Kuyun.

When his term was up, officials from the 610 Office in Hubei Province and the Domestic Security Division illegally extended his term and then transferred him to the Wuhan Brainwashing Center without notifying his family.

Arrested and Imprisoned

Mr. Peng was an excellent teacher at Guangshui No. 2 Middle School. He began to practice Falun Dafa in 1997, and many of his illnesses disappeared shortly after. He conducted himself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, so he was well liked and respected.

Since the Chinese regime began its persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Peng has been arrested and his home ransacked many times. He has also been imprisoned three times and subjected to different types of tortures.

Mr. Peng was sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor in 1999 for going to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong.

Mr. Peng was arrested again in June 2002 and sentenced to three years in prison. He was held in the notorious Fanjiatai Prison, where he was tortured and forced to do slave labor. He lost several teeth due to beatings. He was released in June 2005.
