64-Year-Old Ms. Guo Youzhi Facing Illegal Sentencing for Her Belief in Falun Dafa

April 30, 2014 | By a Minghui correspondent in Yunan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Guo Youzhi received an indictment on March 31, 2014, charged with “using a heretical organization to undermine the implementation of law,” the standard trumped-up charge the Communist regime uses against Falun Dafa practitioners. She was also informed by the court that she would be sentenced to three to seven years in prison.

Ms. Guo and 23 other Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested on September 4, 2013 when local police broke into her home while they were reading Falun Dafa books.

In the detention center, Ms. Guo was forced to take unknown drugs. She had severe reactions to the drugs and lost consciousness twice. She was released on medical parole on December 3, 2013.

Ms. Guo’s Firsthand Account:

My name is Guo Youzhi and I was born on May 25, 1950. I live in the Dongchuan District of Kuiming, and began practicing Falun Dafa in 1998 after a friend told me about it. Once while I was doing the “Standing Stance” Falun Dafa exercise, I couldn’t put my arms down. I could feel such a strong energy field. I made up my mind right then and there that I would diligently practice Falun Dafa.

Illegally Arrested for Gathering

A practitioner by the name of Mr. Wu Chaoqian who rented a room in my house was arrested on August 31, 2013, and the police came to ransack Mr. Wu’s residence on the afternoon of September 4, 2013.

It so happened that a group of practitioners were gathered in my home to study the Falun Dafa books together that day.

When the police saw so many people at my house, they called officers from the Xincun Police Station, the Dabeipai Police Station, and the Pigu Police Station as back up. Over 20 officers arrived, arrested all 23 of us, and ransacked my home.

I was held in the Xincun Police Station. They tried to force several of us to sign paperwork that night, but we refused. One of the practitioners, Jiang Hai, was beaten.

I was taken to the Kunming City Detention Center the next morning. The police told me I would only be detained for three days. However, I was forced to sign a document seven days later that stated I would be detained for a month. The warrant for my arrest was not issued until September 30, 2013.

Forced to Take Unknown Drugs

I had symptoms of high blood pressure in the detention center. I refused to take any medication and asked to be released. The guards made me take unknown drugs. They pried my mouth open to make sure that I swallowed them. As a result of the drugs, I had a really upset stomach and an erratic heartbeat. I also suffered constipation, dizziness, and lost more than ten pounds.

Once after taking the drugs, I was so dizzy that I fell down and lost consciousness. Two weeks later, I lost consciousness again after taking the drugs, and my hands and feet were numb. My eyes turned red and my blood pressure went up further. The detention center officials sent me to the prison hospital. I was there for 11 days.

In the hospital, I was fed and injected with drugs, but I was never told what they were. They made my heart beat erratically. I suffered anxiety attacks and could not sleep. I felt like I was going crazy and asked to be released from the hospital. The officials would not grant my release at first, but after repeated requests, they finally released me on medical parole.

However, I received an indictment from the Dongchuan District Procuratorate on March 31, 2014. Prosecutor Li Chunyue charged me with “using a heretical organization to undermine the implementation of law.” I also received a letter from the Dongchuan District Court that said I would be sentenced to three to seven years in prison.

Previous Arrests

The local police arrested six of us while we were doing the exercises at our regular practice site on the morning of February 7, 2000. I was taken to the Dongchuan District Drug Rehabilitation Center and detained for 13 days.

My sister, Ms. Guo Youzhen, and I went to Awang Township to distribute Falun Dafa truth-clarification materials on December 26, 2010. A police car spotted us and we were arrested. We were first taken to the Awang Police Station and then transferred to the Dongchuan Detention Center.

The police from the Dongchuan Domestic Security Division had us put on prison uniforms and we were taken to my home in handcuffs the next day. They ransacked both of our homes and confiscated many Falun Dafa materials. They treated us like criminals, making sure the neighbors could see it. Apparently they were trying to make people think that Falun Dafa practitioners were criminals to defame Falun Dafa.

We were then taken back to the detention center and released five days later.
