(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Li Guofeng and Mr. Guan Zhongji, both in their 60s, from Pingdu City, Shandong Province, were arrested at 10 a.m. on June 10, 2014. Their homes were ransacked that afternoon. Mr. Guan was released, but Mr. Li has been detained.
Officers from the Cuizhao Police Station broke into their homes and extorted 500 yuan from them the next day. They claimed that it was a physical examination fee.
Mr. Li, from Shengli Village, is 63 years old. Mr. Guan is from Houxiangzi Village. They were reported to the police and arrested by officers from the Cuizhao Police Station for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Cuizhao Town.
Dai Yugang, head of the 610 Office in Pingdu City, and Liu Jie, also from the 610 Office, went to the police station and searched the men personally. They confiscated personal items and 1,100 yuan from Mr. Guan. The practitioners were clarifying the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong to the police during the entire process.
Break-ins and Confiscations Continues
Police officers broke into Mr. Guan’s home again when nobody was home. They searched everywhere and confiscated three copies of Zhuan Falun, 32 copies of Master Li’s [Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong] lectures, three MP3 players, one electronic reader, 600 Falun Gong truth-clarifying stickers, and many other informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Officers from the Cuizhao Police Station broke into Mr. Li’s home and confiscated all Falun Gong books and many Falun Gong truth-clarifying stickers.
The police ordered Mr. Li’s family to sign the list of items they claimed they were confiscating and threatened that they would arrest Mr. Li whether they signed it or not. The same police officer came back the next day and extorted 500 yuan from the family, claiming that it was a fee for Mr. Li’s physical.
The police also delivered the arrest notice, charging Mr. Li with “Crimes of sabotaging the implementation of the state’s laws and executive regulations by utilizing an evil religious organization.”
The police handcuffed and shackled Mr. Li and Mr. Guan and took them to the Pingdu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for a physical exam. The doctor asked the police to open the handcuffs and shackles during the exam, but the director of Cuizhao Police Station did not allow it.
Mr. Guan failed the physical, so the police took him to the Pingdu People’s Hospital for a complete check-up, including an eye exam. He still didn’t pass.
Liu Jie demanded that Mr. Guan’s son pay him 3,000 yuan. Mr. Guang returned home on the afternoon of June 13.
The practitioners’ bikes, watches, and cell phones have so far not been returned by the Cuizhao Police Station.
