San Francisco Gallery Hosts Exhibition of Falun Gong Artwork

August 27, 2015

( The opening ceremony for “The Art of Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truth, Compassion, Tolerance) International Exhibition” was held in the YouCaring Compassion in Action Gallery in downtown San Francisco on August 21. The show will be up for a week.

Because the exhibition hall is in the downtown area, the rental fee is high. But the gallery owner was deeply moved by the artwork and its message and waived the fee.

I Sense the Divine [in the Artwork]

Exhibit visitor Mr. Satnam Nandha, who works at the Federal Reserve Bank, was very impressed by this collection of artwork by Falun Gong practitioners.

“I like all the works. Wonderful. I sense the divine in them,” he told the Minghui correspondent.

Mr. Nandha’s favorite was the painting “Melting into the Fa.”

“The artist must be highly spiritual,” he said. “It reflects peace and manifests the inner world of the artist’s heart.”

The painting shows a mother holding a baby and reading the book Zhuan Falun, the main book of the Falun Gong teachings, under low lamplight.

“If everybody could reach this kind of inner peace, the world would be a wonderful place,” he said.

Mr. Nandha also learned about the persecution of Falun Gong in China from some of the paintings. He said he couldn’t understand why anyone would persecute such peaceful, kind people.

I Admire Their Perseverance

Samantha, a media editor from New York, said the exhibition was not her first encounter with Falun Gong. She said she had learned about the persecution from numerous Falun Gong events in Manhattan.

“I’m glad I got to see this wonderful artwork, which has helped me learn more about Falun Gong,” she said. “I admire their [practitioners] perseverance and strong faith in the face of the persecution. I can sense positive energy from the artwork. The peacefulness, kindness, and dignity of the practitioners is remarkable.”

The exhibition will continue until August 28.

Artistic Expressions by an Israeli Falun Dafa Practitioner

August 24, 2015 | By a practitioner in Israel

( Falun Dafa is the most remarkable thing that I’ve come across in my life. It is my way, my life, my happiness. In 2000, at a park near my house, I saw some people doing exercises, and joined them. On my way home, I felt so light, as if I weighed no more than 15 kg (33 pounds). I felt very happy and at ease. I was smiling, and there were no thoughts in my head, just a feeling of joy.

When I started reading Zhuan Falun for the first time, I kept falling asleep, but wanted very much to read further. There was a feeling that I knew all of it, but it was only I who knew it! I was happy that the book had been written for all, and that all can read it! I knew that the man who wrote it was not an ordinary person.

These 15 years of cultivation have been very difficult. I faced so many tests, but it was remarkable and wonderful at the same time! Many thanks to Teacher! There are no words to express my gratitude.

I have loved to draw since childhood. I was in poor health, so I stayed at home and drew. In my imagination, everything in the drawings came to life: people, birds, and ballerinas rotating on their toes in light, snow-white tutus. I saw people through the windows of houses. I was the creator of my small, pictured world.

I now practice Falun Dafa. On holidays, I draw congratulations for our Teacher. I work as an illustrator with the Epoch Times and at a Minghui school, where I teach practitioners’ children to live by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. I teach them to draw using watercolors–they are transparent and airy.

Here are some drawings:

A young mother meditates while her child crawls on her feet. In other dimensions, angels are gently touching the practitioner’s hands. The practitioner is shining and has a round halo around her head. While sitting in meditation, I saw a similar picture in other dimensions.

Australia: People in Toowoomba Align with “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance”

August 24, 2015

( The city of Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia, known as the “Garden City,” celebrated its tenth Languages and Cultures Festival on August 9, 2015. The variety of traditional cultures on display attracted great crowds and filled the air with harmony and liveliness.

This was also the third time Falun Dafa practitioners participated in the celebration and shared the beauty of the meditation practice with the local people, in particular its principle of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

Many people stopped by, showed great interest in the practice, and expressed their support for practitioners resisting the persecution in China.

I truly love Falun Gong!”

An older woman walked straight to a practitioner and said, “I truly love Falun Gong. I saw your group in last year’s Grand Central Floral Parade. I felt deeply touched. I don’t know why, but I was deeply, deeply touched. I just love the message of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. I truly love Falun Gong!”

A lady in her forties said, “I know Falun Gong is very good, and it has spread widely. I’ve just come back from a trip to Europe. I saw Falun Gong in several places. When I went to visit my friend in Finland, I saw people there practicing Falun Gong too. I also want to practice.”

A young man and his friend came to the information desk and asked, “I believe in Tibetan Buddhism. Can you tell me what Falun Gong is about, and what you focus on in this practice?” The practitioner explained that Falun Gong stresses the importance of “looking within” when encountering conflicts, drawing on the practitioner’s own cultivation experiences. The pair listened attentively and nodded. At the end, the young man put his hands together in front his chest and thanked the practitioner.

A fragile lady in her nineties looked at a Falun Gong flyer and said to a practitioner, “It’s a pity I’m too old for the exercises, but I will keep Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance in my heart.”

Some people had already heard about Falun Gong and the persecution of the practice by China’s communist regime. They expressed their support for Falun Gong and said they hope that the persecution would soon come to an end.

Thank you for bringing beauty to Toowoomba!”

The mayor of Toowoomba Regional Council and the events manager visited the Falun Gong booth, had a friendly chat with practitioners, and posed for a group photo.

“I’m so pleased to see your group here. I just want to say thank you again and let you know just how much we appreciate your wonderful presentation in our annual Floral Parade. Thank you for bringing beauty to Toowoomba. Your presentation has always been outstanding!” said the events manager.

Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises during the festival.

Chicago: The Art of Zhen, Shan, Ren International Exhibition Held at the Thompson Center Government Building

August 10, 2015

( The Art of Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truth, Compassion, Tolerance) International Exhibition was held at the James R. Thompson Center, which houses offices of the Illinois state government, from July 8 to 14, 2015.

Through over 30 oil paintings created by artists who practiced Falun Gong, residents of Illinois took in the stories of Falun Gong through vividly realistic paintings depicting a striking contrast between the beauty of the ancient meditation and the brutality of the persecution.

More than one hundred citizens signed petitions to their congressional representatives requesting their support for House Resolution 343, a newly introduced resolution demanding the Chinese regime to stop forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners and other dissidents.

Visitors view the artwork and read about the background stories behind the paintings.

Many people commented in the guestbook to show their support for Falun Gong and ending the persecution.

“Beautiful, spiritual and inspiring artworks! They let me feel the blessings of God,” wrote Pati Marting, one of several supporters who offered words of encouragement in the guestbook.

An artist who signed the guestbook, R. Sal., wrote: “The paintings are beautiful and moving. I have never been touched so deeply by the aesthetic and spirit. Being an artist myself, I am amazed at the emotions and details depicted in them. Being a human, I am moved by their actions. I see hope with those who are persistent in adversity. May God bless you! Hang on!”

Many others shared their thoughts with the volunteer staff at the exhibit.

Ms. Kothyn Alexander, a retired high school principal, said that she was “sad and encouraged” by the exhibition. She was sad because there should be no persecution in the world. She felt encouraged because many of the paintings showed the courage and faith that resonated with her.

She said she hoped to have a chance to introduce the exhibition to her students for this was an important lesson on understanding the real China.

James, a resident of Chicago, said that the exhibition inspired his interest in Falun Gong and he was going to buy some Falun Gong books to read during the rest of the summer.

Ms. Roberta Valdes works for the Department of Children and Family Services. She was shocked to learn that the Chinese regime has a state-sanctioned operation to harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for sale to the transplant industry. “It is terrible. How can they treat their own people like this!” said Ms. Valdes. “The crime must be stopped immediately!”
