Falun Gong Practitioner Dies Hours After Arrest in Hengshui

August 28, 2015

(Minghui.org) Fifteen Falun Gong practitioners from Hengshui City, Hebei Province were arrested on August 21, 2015, and one of them died just hours later. At the time of this writing, 13 of the practitioners remain in detention.

Mr. Yuan Shuchen Dies on Same Day of Arrest

Mr. Yuan, 65, suddenly passed away on the day of his arrest, with the police blaming the death on a “heart problem.” His family is working to find out the true cause of his death.

Prior to his arrest, Mr. Yuan had his home ransacked by local police on June 18. The officers confiscated many of his personal belongings, including two laptop computers, two printers, one CD burner, and three paper cutters. They tried to take Mr. Yuan away as well, but were stopped by his family members.

Non-practitioner Wife Seized while Trying to Stop Husband’s Arrest

Close to three dozen agents descended on Mr. Xie Xingguo’s house at around 4:00 a.m. on August 21. They scaled the fence and broke into the home. When Mr. Xie’s wife, who is not a practitioner, tried to stop the officers from taking away her husband, she was also arrested. She was held by police until later that day.

Thirteen Other Arrested Practitioners

In addition to Mr. Yuan and Mr. Xie, 13 other practitioners from Hengshui were also arrested on the same day, including Liu Xiuming, Wen Ping, Liu Yuping, Zhang Jinshan, a practitioner surnamed Feng, Yan Jun, Wei Xiubian, Xiu Yanhua, and five members of the same family (Wang Fulu and his wife Zhang Lanjun, along with their two sons and one daughter-in-law).

Except for Mr. Wang’s daughter-in-law, who was released later on August 21, the rest of the practitioners remain at various local detention centers at the time of this writing.

PLAC Secretary Behind Arrests

According to insiders, Dai Guohua, secretary of Hengshui City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, was the official behind the arrests. He has held many meetings since June to plot surveillance and arrests of local practitioners suspected filing lawsuits against Jiang Zemin. He ordered local post offices to stop processing criminal complaint letters submitted by practitioners, and also directed local counties to set up new brainwashing centers to hold arrested practitioners.

Accident with a Falun Gong Practitioner—I am Blessed

July 31, 2015 | By a Yao Caifeng, a non-practitioner from Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) My name is Yao Caifeng. I am 63 years old, and from Bazhou City in Hebei Province.

I was involved in an accident on February 17, 2015, when my motor-tricycle collided with a motorbike. When I saw Mr. Chen Jiadian, the 88-year-old driver, fall off his motorbike, I thought that this was a bad accident, and as it was my fault, I would be in big trouble.

I hurried over to help him, apologized, and offered to take him to the hospital.

“I am not harmed,” Mr. Chen said. “Do you know why? It’s because I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Thank you for your offer, but I don’t need to go to the hospital, and neither do I need any medical treatment.”

He then said goodbye and drove off.

I hurried home and told my family. My wife and I immediately went over to Mr. Chen’s home. We tried to give him a gift for being so nice, but he refused to accept it.

I am blessed, because the person I hit was a Falun Gong practitioner! If I had hit someone else, the consequence could have been totally different.

Causing damage to an elderly person could have turned out to be very serious. If the person survived, there could be hospital bills, medical bills, bills for lost income, compensation to his family, and possibly more.

How could I afford such huge bills? How could I have a normal life with my family if I had hit someone not as thoughtful as Mr. Chen?

Mr. Chen told me that all practitioners follow the Falun Gong principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be good people.

I didn’t know much about Falun Gong, but through this accident, I now understand the practice a lot more.

I realize that if Falun Gong had not been persecuted and slandered by the Chinese Communist Party, and if this cultivation practice could be freely spread in my country, the morals of the Chinese people would most certainly rise.

I am blessed today. I thank Falun Gong and Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, with all my heart.

Six Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested After Practitioner Files a Complaint Against Former Chinese Dictator Jiang Zemin

July 31, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent from Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Police broke into Mr. Yang Miao’s home on July 8, 2015, attempting to arrest him, because he recently filed a complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party.

Mr. Yang was not there at the time, so they arrested everyone else present, including his wife Ms. Zhang Hehua, their daughter, and their guests – practitioners Ms. Ren Jihua, Ms. Zhao Yanping, Mr. Yu Yingming, Ms. Wang Xiaolin, and her sister Ms. Wang Xiaodi.

The officers ransacked the place and confiscated Falun Gong books, other personal belongings, and more complaint letters against Jiang that were to be submitted.

Mr. Yang Miao lives in Chaigoubao Town, Huaian County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province.

Ms. Zhang, Ms. Ren, Ms. Zhao, and Ms. Wang Xiaodi are being held at the Zhangjiakou Detention Center. Mr. Yu and Ms. Wang Xiaolin were taken back to Chaigoubao Town because they failed the physical examination at the detention center.

Mr. Yang’s daughter was released the following day. But before she was released, over ten officers demanded that she curse the Falun Gong founder Mr. Li Hongzhi and step on a photo of him, which she refused.

Information About Practitioners Denied

Families and friends of the arrested practitioners gathered in front of the county police department on the day of the arrest. Police would not give them any details about the arrests.

When the families returned to the police department the next morning, officers told them to go home, saying that they would notify them at a later date. The families were forcibly removed at around 10:00 a.m.

A family member phoned the police department that afternoon and was told that the arrested practitioners had been transferred to the Zhangjiakou Detention Center at 2:00 p.m.

Persecution Meets Principle: The Power of Compassion and Truth

July 29, 2015 | By a practitioner in Hebei Province

(Minghui.org) It happened several years ago, when most people in China were still deceived by the communist regime’s vicious propaganda about Falun Gong. I still remember it vividly, because I witnessed how a person—even a thug who persecutes Falun Gong practitioners—could be changed by compassion and truth.

I had ridden my bicycle to the countryside that morning to distribute some informational materials about Falun Gong and the persecution. Someone reported me to the police and several officers stopped me on the way home. They all looked tough and swore at me as they took me to the police station.

One of them, who claimed to be well-trained in martial arts, brutally beat me, ignoring my attempts to explain why the persecution was wrong. After taking away my bike and my half-full bag of Falun Gong materials, these officers tied me to a tree in the yard. Another officer searched my pocket and found five yuan, the only money I had with me.

“Only five yuan?” asked the officer in disappointment, “It’s not worth our efforts. Wait and see how much fine you’ll have to pay later on.”

“I hope you will not do that,” I said to him calmly. “I came here handing out materials not for myself, but for people living in this area, including your family. The practice of Falun Gong improved my health, and my entire family has benefited from it. I sincerely hope your family can benefit from it, too.”

He looked at me, but did not say anything. With that five yuan, he left and came back with a watermelon. The officers then released me from the tree and led me into the police station.

Looking at the officers as they devoured their piece of watermelon, I felt sad for them: Working as low level police officers, their salary is low because all the money went to higher officials who easily embezzle millions or billions and who own luxury houses and high-end cars.

To make it worse, they were not aware that arresting and beating innocent Falun Gong practitioners is violating the law. By siding themselves with the Communist Party and defying the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, they were putting their future in danger.

My eyes filled with tears as I thought about the informational materials they confiscated, which could be destroyed and thus unable to help people learn the truth about Falun Gong.

“What are you crying for? Do you want some watermelon?” I looked up and saw the officer who beat me earlier, holding out a small piece of watermelon.

“No, thank you,” I replied.

“Tell me what you want,” he asked.

“Please give the materials back and let me go home. I did not commit any crime, and as a citizen I have the freedom of belief.”

“Nonsense!” he yelled, “You did not cry during the beating. Why do you care about those useless papers and want them back? Do you know you could be arrested again, beaten again, or even jailed because of them?”

Seeing several other officers also looking at us, I raised my voice for them to hear clearly. “Trust me, those papers could save people’s lives.” I explained to him how some practitioners chose to live a thrifty life and, penny by penny, saving money to print another copy of the materials. “We did this from our hearts and we did this for people like you. Please, take a copy and read it. You will understand what I mean.”

Hearing what I said, one officer took several copies of the materials and handed them to others. They all began to read.

Two new police officers came at lunch time for the next shift. One of them was waiting outside and the other came into the room.

“Is that you? I have been searching for you for a long time. Do you remember me?” asked the policewoman, with surprise and excitement.

“Me? Have we met before?” I was confused.

“Of course we did,” she said. “I lost 2,000 yuan a while ago and you found it. You waited there until I returned. Then you gave the money back to me and did not tell me your name. When I thanked you, you told me to thank your Teacher, because it was your teacher who taught you to be a good person.”

Yes, now I remembered this incident a couple of months ago. “So, do you think I am a good person?” I asked.

“Definitely!” She then lowered her voice, and said, “I want to let you go, but I dare not do so.”

She came back after a while, bringing a steamed bun and a bottle of water, “Please eat something.”

“Sorry I cannot help much here.” She paused and told me, “There is chance that they may send you to a detention center. Please take a good care of yourself.” I saw tears in her eyes.

Hearing this, I felt a bit scared. After all, the Chinese communist could do anything to a practitioner, as they have done so to many imprisoned practitioners in the past. But on the other hand, I was clear that what I was doing was righteous and important. In the battle between good and evil, goodness always prevails.

“Thank you for your kindness—you will be blessed for it,” I said to her. “Please also tell your family members that Falun Gong is good and there is nothing wrong for one to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Remind them not to be misled by the Party’s hate propaganda.”

“I promise,” she said.

After lunch was over, the police officer who beat me earlier came in first.“Hurry, we need to go now,” he said while walking towards me. Before I knew what he was doing, he put five yuan back into my pocket and lowered his voice, “If I had read those materials earlier, I would not have beaten you.”

At that moment, other officers also came in. Knowing that at least two police officers had decided to support practitioners, I was in tears again. I knew this was the power of compassion and truth.

By then, I no longer had any fear. I still did not know where they would send me, but it did not matter. Wherever I went, I would keep telling people—including police officers—about Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Engineer Holds Former Chinese Dictator Responsible for Torture, Loss of Job and Family

July 21, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province

(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Chunying, a former award-winning senior engineer, was fired from her job in 2000 for appealing for the right to practice Falun Gong.

In the years that followed, the 56-year-old woman from Langfang City, Hebei Province found herself in and out of detention for refusing to give up her belief in Falun Gong. She was arrested six times and tortured while in detention.

Under pressure by local authorities, Ms. Li’s husband divorced her and even forged documents so he could take full possession of the couple’s community property and transfer her legal residency permit from Hebei to Shanxi Province without her consent.

The Langfang Petroleum Pipeline Bureau refused to reinstate Ms. Li’s position and refused to process her retirement application. Unable to claim her pension and without a residency card, which is needed to gain employment, she is now working odd jobs and experiencing great financial distress.

Ms. Li is suing former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the suppression of Falun Gong that cost her her job and family.

She mailed her criminal complaint against Jiang to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and the Supreme People’s Court on June 10.

Standing in Snow With Bare Feet

Police arrested Ms. Li in January 2001 while she peacefully protested in Beijing for justice for Falun Gong. She was held in the Huairou Detention Center, where she was beaten. Despite the cold winter, there was no heat in her cell. When she refused to have her photo taken and be strip-searched, guards forced her to stand in the snow with her bare feet.

Arrested, Tortured for Refusing to Slander Falun Gong

In May 2002, Ms. Li was riding on a bus when a crew member ordered all the passengers to curse at Falun Gong. She refused and was arrested. Officers at the Zhenglanqi Police Department in Inner Mongolia interrogated her around the clock for seven days.

She was taken to a detention center and tortured for over 40 days. She was force-fed with her hands and legs tied. When she was on the verge of death, Zhenglanqi police released her on medical parole.

Sent to Labor Camp After Employer Calls Police

Ms. Li asked her employer to reinstate her position multiple times in August 2005. They demanded that she give up Falun Gong to have her job back. She refused, and her employer called police to arrest her. She was sentenced to two years in the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp without due process.

The guards held her in solitary confinement, because she went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal incarceration. The labor camp doctor pried open Ms. Li’s mouth and force-fed her while prisoners held her down.

After a month of torture, Ms. Li was again at the brink of death. She was injected with unknown drugs, after which she began to twitch and feel intolerable itchiness. Officials released her when she fell into critical condition.

Residency Secretly Canceled, Pension Denied

While Ms. Li was incarcerated, her ex-husband worked with authorities to move her legal residency to Jishan County in Shanxi Province and cancel her residency in Langfang, Hebei in July 2008.

In 2013, her workplace denied her retirement application and pension.

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang’s directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
