Visit of Detained Practitioner Results in Arrest and Detention

August 26, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent from Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) When three people tried to visit a Falun Gong practitioner at a detention center last month, they were turned away, but then followed and forcibly arrested by the police.

The Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Li Zhiqiang from Dezhou City, Shandong Province, was recently sentenced to four years in prison after being illegally detained for one year and seven months for his belief.

Mr. Li’s son, nephew, and friend, Ms. Wang Yanzhi, tried to visit him on July 27, 2015. All three were arrested and taken to the Xincheng Police Station, where they were interrogated and mistreated. Ms. Wang was transferred to the Dezhou City Detention Center.

Arrested for Visiting Mr. Li Zhiqiang

When these three went to visit Mr. Li, they were told that he might be transferred to a prison and thus visitation rights were withdrawn. Therefore they caught a late afternoon bus back to the city.

Three plainclothes officers got on that bus at the Xinghelu Station. At the next bus station, the three people got off the bus. The officers followed and suddenly grabbed them. Mr. Li’s son asked that they show their identification. The police refused and instead video-recorded them.

Then, a car arrived with a group of police officers. The three were surrounded by officers who tried to force them into the car. Since the car did not have enough room, the police called a taxi. They resisted the police. The son’s glasses and bag were confiscated.

“My father is imprisoned by the police because of practicing Falun Gong,” he shouted. “Now you want to arrest us just because we visited him. Falun Gong is good.”

People surrounded them, the taxi driver refused to cooperate with the police and drove away. Eventually, the police called another police car, handcuffed the three and pushed them into the vehicle.

The three were taken to the Xincheng Police Station. The police confiscated all their personal belongings and separated them for interrogation.

Interrogated and Mistreated

Mr. Li’s son was taken to the interrogation room, handcuffed to the wall for more than two hours and interrogated for more than three hours.

The nephew was taken to another interrogation room. His hands were tied behind his back and his feet shackled. The interrogation lasted until past midnight. Then he was left in the interrogation room for the night with handcuffs on. His right arm was injured and the handcuffs left a mark on his wrist.

Ms. Wang began to throw up in the police station. She could not talk or even sit still. The police mocked her and said that she pretended to be sick. Then, the police called a doctor who did not treat her. The police turned the air conditioner to very cold and left her like this for the entire night.

A group of officers from the domestic security team and the Xincheng Police Station ransacked Ms. Wang’ home for three hours. They confiscated Falun Gong books and materials, banners and many other personal belongings. They did this in front of Ms. Wang’s mother-in-law and her granddaughter.

The police demanded that Ms. Wang’s daughter come to the police station and interrogated her for over five hours the next morning. They again interrogated Ms. Wang that morning. Ms. Wang’s daughter demanded to see her mother and was finally allowed to see her in the afternoon. The police refused to have her mother treated despite her poor health condition.

The police demanded that Mr. Li’s nephew provide his contact information and he refused. Therefore, they confiscated his cell phone to get his contact information.

The domestic security police released Mr. Li’s son and nephew at 9:00 p.m. However, not until they signed a guarantee statement that promised not to practice Falun Gong and their release forms. They also took blood samples and fingerprinted them.

The police took Ms. Wang to the Dezhou City Detention Center, although her daughter tried to prevent this transfer.

The police issued Ms. Wang’s official detention notice and a general letter claiming that Ms. Wang’s health was fine.

Postal Worker Listens to the Facts and Accepts Our Lawsuit Documents Against Jiang

August 25, 2015 | By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Shandong Province

(Minghui.org) Today, two fellow practitioners and I went to the local post office to mail our lawsuit documents against the former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin. The two of them went inside to mail their letters while I remained outside to send righteous thoughts.

A short while later, one of them called me inside. The postal worker had refused to accept our letters.

She said, “We received a notice from the police station to call them about the letters addressed to the Supreme People’s Court or the Supreme People’s Procuratorate. The police warned us that whoever approved the letters for mailing would be legally responsible.”

The three of us told the worker about the persecution of Falun Gong and why we were filing criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin. However, she still refused to accept the letters.

We were not discouraged. “Suing Jiang Zemin is a right of the citizens,” we reminded her. “It is the post office’s duty to accept and mail our letters. The policemen are breaking the law by forbidding us to send letters. They don’t know what is right and wrong. We know it is Jiang’s group who are trying to stop people from sending the lawsuits.”

We patiently told her that there had already been more than 120,000 Falun Dafa practitioners in over 30 countries who have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, who orchestrated the violent suppression of Falun Dafa practitioners. “We are not doing this for ourselves. Falun Dafa is the Buddha Fa. Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance are universal values. Jiang’s lies have turned many people hostile towards the Buddha Fa. Committing crimes against the Buddha Fa will result in heaven’s punishment when the time comes. Jiang has, as a matter of fact, persecuted all Chinese people.”

One of the practitioners told her about how her healthy drastically improved after she began practicing Falun Dafa.

We had no objective other than to let her know the truth. We continued to explain while she listened quietly. Slowly, she gave our letters the stamp of approval and handed us the receipts.

We were touched, and one of my fellow practitioners burst into tears.

“We thank you for making the right choice out of morality and conscience,” I said to her. “We are deeply moved by your courage. You will be blessed.” We finally explained to her the importance of quitting the Chinese Communist Party and its youth organizations. She agreed to withdraw her membership in the Young Pioneers.

Many People Anticipating Jiang Zemin’s Arrest

August 14, 2015 | By a Falun Gong practitioner from Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) When the global effort to bring Jiang Zemin to justice started, I began seizing opportunities to tell people about it.

Should Have Been Sued Long Ago

I ran into a friend at a market, who asked me what I had been up to, so I told her about the movement to sue Jiang Zemin.

She thought I was joking.

“No, I’m serious,” I said. “People around the world are suing him. Tens of thousands of people have filed criminal complaints against him already.”

She asked what crimes he had committed, so I told her about his intention to eradicate Falun Gong.

A elderly man selling vegetables next to us joined the conversation. “He should have been sued a long time ago,” he said. ”He is an enemy of the people. He is not a good person!”

Others around us smiled in agreement.

He Should Be Indicted!

I went to an office looking for a friend one day, but he wasn’t there. A young man in the office was looking at a surveillance video and asked me to sit down and wait.

I said, “I can give you software to break through China’s great firewall so you can read the real news from overseas.”

He wanted to know if it really worked.

I told him that many people now use it. “Using this software, I’ve learned that people from all around the world are suing Jiang Zemin.”

“Jiang Zemin should be indicted!” he responded right away.

The Scourge of China

One Saturday morning I went to a market where I often buy eggs from an elderly man. He greeted me, “What’s been keeping you busy lately? I haven’t seen you for a long time.”

I told him about the movement to sue Jiang and how I had been involved.

He applauded my action, saying, “Yes, he has been the scourge of China.”

I handed him a Minghui Weekly.“Tens of thousands of people have sued him.”

Another man nearby looked at the headline and wondered if Jiang had been arrested yet. After I told him that he had not, he was disappointed. “It will only count when he is arrested,” he replied.

“Don’t worry. Everything goes through a process. He will be arrested,” I said.

Another vendor said, “Give me a copy. I want to check it out, too.”

I handed him a copy and said to another vendor getting closer to listen in, “You can take a look, too.”

Sharing the News

I first told my close friends in town the news about suing Jiang. We have a very good relationship, and they asked what had been keeping me so busy. When I told them how I was suing Jiang Zemin, they all laughed.

“No wonder you are so busy,” someone said. “You are taking care of 1.3 billion people in our country.” I thought they were making fun of me, so I did not reply.

But I later thought about what they said. I enlightened they were indeed correct. They also realize that suing Jiang Zemin is indeed taking care of the Chinese people!

Former Naval Officer Tortured; Family Suffers Hardship

August 04, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent from Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) “A police officer pulled one of my arms from above to my back and another from below and cuffed my hands behind my back. This torture, known as diagonal handcuffing behind the back, was meant to break my belief in Falun Gong.” Mr. Yang Yujun, a former Chinese naval officer recounted about the torture he experienced after his arrest in October 2001.

He continued to describe the torture he suffered and how hard he tried not to pass out because of the pain. Because of swelling, the handcuffs cut into his wrist.

Whenever the officers felt that he was about to pass out, they opened the handcuffs, which were difficult to unlock because of the swelling. But, the minute they felt that he had recovered, they locked the handcuffs again. This was done over and over again for 24 hours.

When they stopped the torture, the upper half of his body was numb. His legs were terribly bruised because police also beat him with rubber batons. Even after one year, he had only limited use of his arms.

Forced to Retire from the Navy and Deprived of Retirement Benefits

Mr. Yang was a deputy battalion commander of the Chinese Navy before he was forced to retire from his post in 2000 because he practiced Falun Gong.

He was hired by the Electric Power Cooperation of Laizhou City, Shandong Province, but was arrested before he began work. He was deprived of his apartment and the benefits he should have received as a retired naval officer.

Imprisonment, Forced Labor and Brainwashing Over 14 Years

Police officers from the Laizhou 610 Office and Political Security Division ransacked Mr. Yang’s home in the north district of Laizhou City in November 2000. They arrested him and confiscated his computer.

He was detained in the local police station for more than 72 hours. His family was forced to pay 10,000 yuan for his release. However, the police returned 8,300 yuan to him one year later.

He was taken to a brainwashing center by police officers in Laizhou city in April 2001, where he was held for 20 days.

Police officers from the Laizhou Domestic Security Division and 610 Office arrested him in October 2001. Eight officers, including Gu Liping (former deputy chief of the Laizhou Police Department) and Liu Jingbing (an officer of the Laizhou 610 Office) interrogated and tortured him for 24 hours in the police department. Then, he was transferred to the Laizhou Detention Center, where he was held for eight months.

He was sentenced to three years in prison on March 19, 2002 and taken to the Weibei Prison in Shandong Province in May 2002. He was forced to work long hours and mistreated, which included exposure to the scorching sun.

He was reported and arrested when he was doing the Falun Gong exercises in late 2011. He was forced to attend brainwashing classes during the 14 days of detention.

For talking about the persecution of Falun Gong during a business trip in Quanzhou, Fujian Province in March 2012 he was reported to police. He was detained for 14 days in the Nan’an City Detention Center of Fujian Province.

He was then sentenced to 18 months of forced labor in the Fuzhou Forced Labor Camp. They tortured him with different torture methods, such as standing for a long time and sleep deprivation.

Throughout his detentions, his family experienced great hardship.

“I tell my story not out of revenge but with the hope that the persecution of Falun Gong will come to an end,” he said. “I bear no grudge against those who persecuted me. It is my wish that they hear the facts about Falun Gong and bear them well.

Senior Engineer Arrested and Home Ransacked

July 10, 2015 | By a Minghui correspondent from Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) A senior engineer at an architectural design institute in Jinan was illegally arrested and her home was ransacked on June 25, 2015. The police claimed that they were checking up on Falun Gong practitioners for the safety of a military review.

Ms. Gu Zuhong, 51, was arrested at work by plainclothes officers. Seven plainclothes officers broke into her home earlier that day. Her daughter, who was home alone, was frightened and loudly protested the break-in. The officers yelled at her, videotaped the home, and confiscated all Falun Gong books, a laptop computer, a DVD recorder, and a paper cutter.

They took Ms. Gu’s daughter to her workplace. Ms. Gu refused to go with the officers because they did not show a warrant. The officers forcibly took Ms. Gu to the Jianzhuxincun Police Station, where she was detained in the basement.

A police officer demanded that Ms. Gu sign a blank warrant several hours later. When she asked which law she violated, the officer said, “violation of public security administration.” When Ms. Gu asked about the details of this regulation, the officer could not answer. Ms. Gu refused to sign.

The police later asked for her personal ID and fingerprints. Ms. Gu also refused. The police interrogated Ms. Gu’s daughter about her mom’s practice of Falun Gong and demanded to know who Ms. Gu was in contact with. Her daughter refused to answer.

Ms. Gu told the police that Jiang Zemin, the former Communist Party leader, is being sued globally for persecuting Falun Gong and Zhou Youkang, China’s former security czar, was sentenced to life. She encouraged the police to clearly understand the situation and not be scapegoats for Jiang Zemin.

Ms. Gu was released the next day. The police only returned the DVD recorder and paper cutter. She demanded the police return all other confiscated items as soon as possible.
