Does It Make Sense to Have Outlaws Investigate Their Own Crimes?

April 29, 2013 | By Feiming

(Minghui.org) A recent article exposing the shocking torture of detainees at Masanjia Women’s Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province has caused great repercussions in China. The lengthy report included the personal accounts of victims who were brave enough to use their real names. Since its publication in early April, it has been reprinted by many websites and news media.

Desperate to cover up its crimes unveiled in the report, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) hastily put together a so-called “investigation team” and conducted a purported “on-site inspection” of the labor camp. According to their investigation, none of the torture mentioned in the report ever took place and it was Falun Gong practitioners that fabricated the report in the first place.

How much sense does it make for outlaws to investigate their own crimes? Sans an independent third party’s involvement, any so-called investigation by the CCP of its own atrocities only makes people see more clearly how ridiculous it truly is.

The Biased Investigation Team

This CCP “investigation team” included personnel from relevant departments in Liaoning Province, journalists from state- and province-owned media, and representatives from the People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Consultative Conference.

It is clear the investigation team and the labor camp, both part and parcel of the regime, are all cut from the same cloth. What kind of results can people expect when the investigator is an ardent supporter of the one being investigated?

The Contrived “Objective, Open and Impartial” Investigation

This investigation team claimed to have conducted an “objective, open, and impartial” investigation.

Which part of this investigation was objective? How could it be objective when the accused arranged for their accomplices to investigate them? Why didn’t the regime invite a third party to conduct an independent investigation? Why didn’t it allow Minghui journalists to visit mainland China to gather evidence?

Where was the openness? Without outside monitoring and involvement, everything was simply fabricated by the accused and their accomplices working behind closed doors.

How was it “impartial?” The investigation team and the labor camp provided protective cover for each other. The wrongdoers and their investigators are one and the same.

According to the “investigation team,” 73 volumes of archives were reviewed, 116 guards were investigated, 55 current detainees were interviewed, and 14 recently released detainees were visited. They gathered 663 testimonies, images, and audio recordings.

None of the above figures are credible. The guards were the CCP henchmen and the detainees were the hostages. Even the recently released prisoners worry about being arrested again. How could any of these “witnesses” dare to speak any truth? Even if a few had the guts to expose the crime, you’d be naïve to think any CCP mouthpiece media would publish it.

The Terrified CCP

According to the Minghui article (http://en.minghui.org/html/articles/2013/4/8/138822.html):

“While the report was unprecedented in terms of admitting such horrific conditions in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, it conspicuously neglected to mention that those who were most badly beaten, tortured and brutally mistreated there since mid-1999 were mostly Falun Gong practitioners.”

“Since the year 2000, Minghui has published 8,109 reports of various kinds documenting and discussing the persecution experiences of Falun Gong practitioners who have been illegally detained in the Masanjia labor camp alone. (Note: this total was generated by a search of the Minghui website, and therefore includes both original reports as well as commentaries and periodicals that repeat the content of original reports.)”

“The brunt of the persecution that has been dished out at Masanjia (and numerous other labor camps throughout China) has most certainly been borne by Falun Gong practitioners, at least since the official campaign to crush Falun Gong launched in July 1999.”

Even without the mention of Falun Gong, this report still manages to freak out the CCP. The regime is terrified that its torture of innocent people, especially Falun Gong practitioners, is being widely reported worldwide.

This “investigation” farce airs the CCP dirty laundry to the world.

Thanks to practitioners’ unwavering truth-clarification efforts, more and more people have come to see the unscrupulous nature of the CCP, which is in sharp contrast to the compassion of practitioners.

As more and more CCP crimes are made public, those that follow the regime to do evil, including its official writers, will be punished and brought to justice.

Engineer Mr. Gao Dong Disappeared Two Years Ago

May 01, 2013 | By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Dong of Panjin City, Liaoning Province has been missing since 2011 when he traveled to Haicheng City, his hometown.

After he left for his hometown, Panjin City 610 Office agents searched his rental home and took his landlord in for questioning. A 610 Office official told people that they would not hear anything from Gao Dong for the next ten years.

Word spread that Mr. Gao had been sent to Benxi City Forced Labor Camp, while another source said that he was held in Anshan City Detention Center. His whereabouts remain a mystery and no one knows if he is even still alive.

Gao Dong, 45, was an engineer at Zhenxing Company of Liaohe Oilfield. For practicing Falun Gong, he was arrested a number of times. During four longterm detentions in Panjin and Benxi, he was subjected to torture. Twice he was sent to a mental hospital. He was also sent to Fushun Brainwashing Center. He lost his job and family (his wife and child left him) and he became homeless. He was tortured until he became unconscious three times while imprisoned.

Mr. Gao was mentally traumatized and physically paralyzed. He had no money and no home, and he was forced to search the trash for food to eat. He had to sleep in many outdoor places, such as on roadsides, in the woods, and in farm fields.

Since the Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong 13 years ago, Mr. Gao has been repeatedly arrested and detained; he was detained for a total of nearly nine years. Inmates heard his painful screams many times while he was being tortured.

Various torture methods used on Falun Gong practitioners

In one torture method the perpetrators used, Mr. Gao’s arms and legs were stretched out and tied to a bed, and an air bag was inserted under his hips to increase the tension. He was left in that position for days and nights. The room was mosquito infested in the summer, and a fan was placed to constantly blow on him in winter. The perpetrators sprayed water on him, jabbed needles into his armpits, brushed his nail bed with a toothbrush, snapped their fingers against his eyeballs and poked his ribs with a stick.

The guards used high voltage electric batons to shock his sensitive areas, such as his mouth, navel, nipples, chin, armpits, hands, and the soles of his feet. Sometimes two guards shocked him simultaneously. They tortured Mr. Gao for long periods of time and they did not stop until he passed out. After two months of being brutally tortured, Gao Dong could not walk anymore, and he was covered with scars and bruises.

Once he was handcuffed to the bed while he slept and he remained handcuffed for several months. Every day, four inmates took turns watching him for 24 hours. Even when he needed to relieve himself, they only released one hand and let him urinate into his meal bowl or toothbrush mug. Sometimes, inmates held torture competitions to see who could cause him the most pain. They kicked and punched Mr. Gao as if he were a ball. They even pulled his hair to knock his head against the ground repeatedly, causing a bloody nose. Some even stuck needles into his fingertips.

Gao Dong’s health deteriorated. His entire body suffered from edema, and he had symptoms of a stroke. Instead of releasing him on medical parole, the officials sent him to a mental institution to further torture him. He was tied to a bed, and given injections of unknown substances against his will every day. They force-fed him when he refused to eat. He lost control of his bladder and bowels, and his legs were paralyzed. He suffered from memory loss, and was dazed.

After one brutal torture, he began to vomit blood and stomach fluid, and his blood pressure could not be measured. Fearing he may die in custody, the authorities dumped him outside of his sister’s home.

Mr. Gao’s ordeal is not over. Now his whereabouts remain unknown.

Three Distinguished Female Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Tortured in Prison

May 01, 2013 | By a Minghui correspondent in Anhui Province, China

(Minghui.org) “She could not raise her head, could not see things and could not walk.” This was Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Weiying’s physical condition when her son went to visit her at Suzhou No. 3 Women’s Prison in Anhui Province. Ms. Zhu had to be carried out on a stretcher for the visit due to her poor condition. The prison head said she was eligible for serving her term outside of prison in every way due to her condition, but they would not allow her to do so unless she “transforms”.

Ms. Zhu Weiying used to work as a manager of the Meishan Hotel in Hefei City. She was illegally sentenced to imprisonment for practicing Falun Gong and has been detained at Suzhou No.3 Women’s Prison in Anhui. Falun Gong practitioners suffering brutal persecution in the same prison include Associate Professor Wu Xiaohua from Anhui University of Architecture and first-rank judge Ms. Li Mei from the Intermediate Court of Hefei City. They are currently suffering serious illness symptoms due to persecution. To date, the prison still refuses to release them on medical parole.

“Transformation” is a term used by the communist regime in forcing Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The regime puts Falun Gong practitioners in prisons, labor camps, detention centers and brainwashing centers and subjects them to torture for the sole purpose of “transforming” them so that they will renounce their belief. As the perpetrators say: We don’t care about crimes of murder and arson, we just won’t allow Falun Gong practitioners to believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Hotel manager Zhu Weiying became blind and could not walk as a result of torture

Ms. Zhu Weiying, around 60 years old, used to manage the Meishan Hotel in Hefei City. She has suffered repeated persecution for not giving up practicing Falun Gong. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor in May 2002, and her term was extended by another three months at the end. After her release from the labor camp, she was constantly harassed by the regime personnel and was forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. She was arrested several times while living a homeless life, but each time she managed to get away.

In June 2011, Ms. Zhu Weiying and another practitioner, Zheng Mingde were arrested together and Luyang District Court in Hefei soon secretly sentenced Ms. Zhu to imprisonment. After she was taken to Suzhou No. 3 Women’s Prison, Ms. Zhu suffered persecution for refusing to be “transformed”. She went blind and could not walk.

Details of the persecution she suffered and those responsible are to be further investigated.

University Associate Professor Wu Xiaohua Unable to Walk Due to Persecution

Associate Professor Wu Xiaohua from Anhui University of Architecture was arrested by police over a dozen times and kept in a mental hospital several times for persecution. She was last arrested on July 22, 2010 and once again sent to Hefei Psychiatric Hospital for persecution. Later she was secretly sentenced to imprisonment and sent to Suzhou No. 3 Women’s Prison. Currently, she cannot walk and has become incontinent as a result of torture.

Ms. Wu Xiaohua is 57 years old, and used to work in the Department of Environmental Arts at the Anhui University of Architecture. Her case has attracted the attention of the international community and was listed as one of the “cases of concern” by the UN “Working Group on Arbitrary Detention”. Ms. Wu Xiaohua was one of the persecution victims on their name list when the group visited China in September 2004. However, the communist regime refused to provide any information about her and also refused to allow the group to meet with her.

The report of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention said: “She was reportedly placed under house arrest in October 2001, during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit held in Shanghai. Later, she was sent to a labor camp for women. She was allegedly tortured at the camp in a number of ways, including having her mouth stuffed with rags and tissues soaked in urine and menstrual blood. In mid-October 2001, on the tenth day of a hunger strike she had initiated to protest her detention, she was sent to the No. 4 Hospital in Hefei City, Anhui province. At the hospital she was stripped of her clothes and shocked with electric needles and an electric baton all over her body. Li, a medical doctor, tortured her with electric shocks until she became unconscious. She was also forcibly given injections and force-fed drugs. It was further reported that Professor Wu was first arrested in December of 1999 for appealing in Beijing to the Government to put an end to its persecution of Falun Gong. She was allegedly tortured at the Anhui Women’s Detention Centre in Anhui province. Later she was transferred to the No. 4 Hospital of Hefei City where she also was tortured, including being locked in a bathhouse full of mosquitoes for one night and forced to use a pigpen full of spider webs as a toilet. At the end of April 2001, she was again arrested.”

First-rank Judge Suffers Ascites as a Result of Persecution

Ms. Li Mei, in her 50s, used to work as a first-rank judge at the Intermediate Court of Hefei City. She has suffered brutal persecution at Suzhou No. 3 women’s Prison in Hefei, and is now in very poor physical condition: She has great difficulty eating any food and suffers bowel dysfunction. There are lumps in her abdomen, which are filled with fluid. Even in this condition, she is forced to stand without moving for long periods of time every day. Ms. Li Mei has become very weak physically.

As a judge, Ms. Li Mei was upright with integrity, and was praised by people for being an “upright” judge who punishes the bad and promotes justice. She cultivated herself according to Falun Dafa’s principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and often helped people in difficult situations. One day in 2008 when Ms. Li Mei was on her way home from work, she saw a middle-aged beggar lying by the roadside. He was very sick and begged passers-by for help, but was totally ignored. When Ms Li saw this, she held back tears and helped the beggar up, then she called a taxi and took him home. She asked him to wash his dirty body and called for a doctor to give him injections and prescribe medicines. The beggar recovered quickly under Ms. Li’s care. When he left Ms. Li’s house, he cried and said again and again: “You’re my saviour!”

However, because of her practice of Falun Gong, she was arrested on June 12, 2008 by dozens of police officers and personnel of the 610 Office of Hefei City and the Political and Judiciary Committee, and sentenced to one year of detention at the Nanhu Forced Labor Farm of Anhui Province. Because she refused to renounce her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, when her term was due for release, she was sent to a brainwashing center at Feicuiyuan Guest House in Hefei City for further persecution. Seeing that they could not “transform” her from her belief the perpetrators transferred her to another brainwashing center at Qingfengyuan Guest House, and later sent her to Hefei No. 2 Detention Center.

On December 8, 2009, the 610 Office of Hefei City colluded with police and judiciary organs in Yaohai District and put Ms. Li on trial. She was sentenced to five years in prison the next day, and taken to Suzhou No. 3 Women’s Prison on February 23, 2010.

Kaohsiung, Taiwan: Persevering in Clarifying the Truth with the Same Spirit as the April 25 Appeal (Photos)

April 28, 2013 | By Minghui correspondents Sun Bo and Su Rong in Kaohsiung, Taiwan

(Minghui.org) Since the April 25, 1999 peaceful appeal of over 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners 14 years ago in Beijing, practitioners around the world have persevered in clarifying the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. Practitioners in Taiwan have made a special effort to help tourists from Mainland China learn the truth about Falun Gong.

Tourists from Mainland China read about the Nine Commentaries on Communist Party and the movement to quit the CCP

Xizi Bay in Taiwan is located to the north of Kaohsiung harbor, by the Taiwan Straights with a beautiful backdrop of Mt. Longevity. It is a favorite spot for Mainland Chinese tourists, with many busloads of them visiting for sightseeing every day. They often see Falun Gong practitioners demonstrating the exercises and displaying information about the persecution by the Communist regime. Falun Gong practitioners have been doing this for years and it has become an important attraction for tourists who come to visit Taiwan.

Mainland Chinese tourists can see the peacefulness of Falun Gong practitioners, which is totally different from the lies told by the CCP in China. After learning the facts, they quit the CCP one after another, taking a stance for justice. Many Falun Gong practitioners volunteer their time to come here to clarify the facts to the tourists every day and help them quit the CCP.

Ms. Cai Xiuzhi has been practicing Falun Gong for over ten years. She works in her own shop in the morning and closes it at lunch time. The she rides her motorbike with informational materials to Xizi Bay to clarify the facts to people.

She has been doing this day after day for over ten years, regardless of the weather. She said, “It is about a 40-kilometer round trip from my place to Xizi Bay, and it takes me about two hours in total. I get back to the shop at around 6:00 p.m. to get things ready for business the next day. It is usually after 9:00 p.m. by the time I get home.” Ms. Cai believes it is well worth the effort to help the people from Mainland China. She said, “Very often, a volunteer worker is able to help dozens of tourists from Mainland China quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations within a couple of hours.”

CCP Member for Over 30 Years Quits the Party

Ms. Cai Xiuzhi said that once she saw a man in his sixties sitting there enjoying the sea view. She went over and said, “May I ask if you have joined the CCP or its affiliated organizations before? Let me help you quit the CCP for your own safety, will you?” The man said he had been a CCP member for over 30 years and he would never quit the CCP even if he died!

Ms. Cai said, “No problem. It’s karmic destiny that we meet today. I’m only being responsible to tell you the facts. It’s up to you if you quit or not.” Even though the man said he would not quit the CCP, he looked kind and was willing to listen to Ms. Cai, and asked Ms. Cai why she practiced Falun Gong.

Ms. Cai told him, “I was weak and often sick when I was young and doctors and medicine could not help me get better, but I regained health from practicing Falun Gong, and that’s why I have the opportunity to help you quit the CCP so that you can have a safe and bright future.” She also told him about the persecution of Falun Gong and the CCP’s crime of live organ harvesting and said, “The CCP has done so many evil things and it will definitely meet with retribution. Only by quitting the CCP can you truly ensure safety.”

They talked for about half an hour. The elderly man thought about it deeply and said, “OK! I quit.”

Life Is More Important than Money

A tourist from Mainland China said to Ms. Cai, “The Chinese Communist Party gives me money. I will quit the party if you give me money too!” Ms Cai told him, “Life is more important than money. Without life, what’s the use of money? Besides, your money is not given to you by the CCP, it is from your own efforts. Your life will be blessed if you quit the CCP.”

She went on to say, “80 million Chinese people have lost their lives because of the CCP. It also persecutes people with religious beliefs, and persecutes Falun Gong and even harvests organs of live Falun Gong practitioners. Did you know this?”

“Good will be rewarded and evil will receive retribution. The CCP will be disintegrated. This is a mandate of Heaven. Each CCP member is part of it, so only by quitting it quickly can one truly be safe. Life is precious. When calamities come there will be no escape, whether you are rich or poor! You decide your own future!”

After hearing all this, the man finally said, “All right. I quit. Falun Dafa is good! Zhen-Shan-Ren is good!”

CCP Secretary Threatens a Practitioner, But Finally Agrees to Quit the Party

One tourist was a CCP secretary at his workplace. When Ms Cai told him about quitting the CCP for his own safety, he rudely grabbed from Ms. Cai’ s hand the name list of people who had quit the CCP and threatened to throw it into the sea.

Ms. Cai said to him solemnly, “You must not behave this way. We are volunteers and we come here to help you because you are all kind people, and only by quitting the CCP can you truly have a safe future. You only need to quit the CCP in your heart with a kind thought, and this will not affect your job.”

In the end the man understood. He returned the name list to Ms. Cai, nodded his head with a smile and said, “Please help me quit from [the CCP] too.”

Retired Officials Quit the CCP, the Youth League and the Young Pioneers

Ms. Cai recalled that once she saw two people walking slowly. So she walked with them and asked, “Are you two retired?” One of them said, “I have long retired.” Ms. Cai said, “Many people quit all the CCP organizations after they retired!” The other said to her, “We can’t quit. If we do, we will be killed when we get back.”

Ms. Cai said, “There is nothing to be afraid of. The CCP only has more than 70 million members, but there are 1.3 billion Chinese people. The power of 1.3 billion united people is huge.” They stopped and said to Ms. Cai with a smile, “Yes, yes you are right! 1.3 billion people are powerful.” Ms. Cai told them that they must quit the CCP and all its affiliated organizations and showed them a number of aliases for them to choose from. They each chose an alias and declared their resignation from the CCP.

For the last 14 years, many Falun Gong practitioners in Taiwan like Ms. Cai have continuously clarified the truth to people while peacefully resisting the persecution. They make use of every opportunity to clarify the facts to save people with perseverance. Practitioners have witnessed a change in the situation over the years, with more and more Chinese people showing their support for Falun Gong.
