(Minghui.org) More than 7,000 Falun Dafa practitioners from more than 50 countries and regions converged on Manhattan’s Chinatown in New York on Saturday, May 18. They held a magnificent parade to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public, demonstrating the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa and calling for justice and conscience. The vast procession impressed Western and Chinese spectators alike.

Beginning at noon, the march featured three large sections and 11 small sections, like a dragon with no tail in sight.

Each section presented a different theme: The first showed the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa and how it has been embraced worldwide; the second raised awareness and called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong; the third section called upon people recognize the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and to quit the Party and its affiliated organizations to ensure their own safety.

When the procession passed by, large crowds of people on both sides of the street stopped to watch. Many Chinese business owners came out of their shops to watch. Many Chinese were impressed and in awe: “How magnificent! So many people!” Some said they wanted to learn Falun Gong. Some people said, “Falun Gong has grown larger and larger.”

What the Falun Gong parade conveys is peace, love, and human dignity

University student David said, “I’ve experienced something very rich.”

Eighteen-year-old David is a university student studying business at a university in Pittsburgh. It was the first time he had ever been to Chinatown and the first time he had ever come across such a grand march held by Falun Gong practitioners. Before the parade set off, he took many photos. He said, “I’ve experienced something very rich, with splendid colors and smiles from people in the procession. I’m affected and smile, too.”

Exhilarating parade can’t be missed

Fred Seiden

Fred Seiden has lived in Manhattan for more than 40 years. He said, “I never expected to see such a grand and exhilarating parade today. My friend came from India to take part in this event, and he told me to come and see it, so I came. I don’t know how to describe my feelings. The band is so fascinating, those celestial maidens and those dressed in different ethnic attire–they are demonstrating traditional Chinese culture.

“Such an inspiring parade can’t be missed.” He carefully put the Falun Gong materials a practitioner gave him into his backpack and said that he would definitely learn more after he got home.

I feel Falun Gong is good

Mr. Xie is a retired doctor and loves photography. He held a long lens camera and took photos of the parade. He said that, since the CCP seized power in China, the people there have been subjected to all kinds of persecution. His father was labeled as a rightist by the CCP and was persecuted. He said that many Chinese people can’t realize this and mistakenly consider the CCP and China one and the same. He finally said, “All in all, the existence of the evil CCP is a misfortune for the world.”

Mr. Chen, in his 80s, was a businessman before he retired. He lives in Chinatown, and each time there is a Falun Gong parade, he comes to watch. He said, “The Communist Party is bad. What it has done are all bad things. I’ve been here for dozens of years. I feel Falun Gong is good and righteous.”

(The parade procession) is really phenomenal

Another Mr. Chen from Guangdong Province has worked in Manhattan’s Chinatown for more than 12 years. He said, “The parade is really fabulous! Wonderful! There are so many people.” “The CCP is bad. It is autocratic, corrupt, and wicked. It will never change. America is free and democratic, so there is such a good environment for such a grand parade to be held.”

Mr. Huang, who has lived in New York for over a decade, comes to see Falun Gong practitioners’ parade each year. He said, “Falun Gong is a good practice. It enables people to be kind. Falun Dafa truly teaches people to be good. Over so many years, who has ever seen Falun Gong practitioners breaking any laws!?”

There are so many practitioners, how can I learn it?

Mr. Wang from Guangdong Province held a Falun Gong flyer in his hand and watched the parade intently. He told the reporter, “It’s my first time to see a parade with so many people. There are so many people who practice Falun Gong. Can I can find it online? How can I learn it? Can I download its books online?” His questions answered, he said he would search for it online and begin to learn.

Brutal Torture in the Men’s Division of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp (Photo)

May 20, 2013 | By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) After the Mainland Chinese magazine Lens published the article “Walking Out of Masanjia,” it received a lot attention both inside China and abroad. The New York Times and Deutsche Welle published follow-up reports on the atrocities that took place in the Masanjia camp. The brutality against the detainees that was reported, especially women, was truly horrendous. While attention was focused on female practitioners, the persecution of male Falun Gong practitioners detained at Masanjia has largely been ignored. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has denied the existence of male detainees at the labor camp. However, the following information provides details to suggest that this is not true.

Male practitioners detained in division 6

Thirty-four male practitioners were detained in the “Division for Newcomers” at Masanjia from November 19, 1999, to early August 2000. Five of them were then transferred to Division 6 of the labor camp for brainwashing sessions.

More than 10 male practitioners and more than 10 female practitioners were taken to Masanjia on February 29, 2000. Their heads were shaved and the male practitioners had to hold their pants up with their hands as no belts were allowed, and despite the cold weather, they were only allowed to wear a thin pair of slippers. The male practitioners were taken to Division 6, which was not far from the women’s divisions. When they entered the cells, the practitioners were searched. Their bags were also searched, and they had to hand in all their money.

Practitioners were forced to read books, watch videos, and listen to recordings that slandered Falun Gong. They were also made to stand for long periods of time bent over, their hands touching their feet. The practitioners were not allowed to look at each other or greet each other.

When officials from the central government, provincial government, and reporters came to Masanjia before the Chinese New Year in 2001, the guards gathered all of the practitioners who refused to renounce their belief and hid them. When foreign reporters later came to visit the camp, all of the male practitioners were taken to detention centers in their hometowns, so no male practitioners were to be found there.

Refusing to be brainwashed

In 2001, the guards gathered the detained male practitioners, about 30 of them, in the women’s division to watch programs defaming Falun Gong. When the program was about halfway through, Dalian practitioner Mr. Feng Gang, who sat in the front row, stood up and shouted, “You must not defame my master!” His voice rang like a thunderclap. It not only shocked everyone in the room, but also stopped the program. Another male practitioner then stood up and walked out of the room, saying, “This is too cruel.” When other practitioners got up and walked out, they were stopped by some of the officials. The guards beat Mr. Feng. One young female practitioner shouted at the guards to stop beating him. All the male practitioners were taken back to the male division.

Intensive forced labor led to practitioners falling unconscious

Located in the Yuhong District of Shenyang City, Masanjia Forced Labor Camp had a farm, about 330 acres, consisting of rice paddies, dry land, and vegetable fields. Prior to the persecution of Falun Gong, labor camp officials hired local villagers to work the farm, and inmates would help. In October 1999, after many practitioners were taken to the camp from different regions in Liaoning Province, only male practitioners and inmates worked on the farm. When they worked in the paddy fields, they had to work immersed in water up to their waist for several hours each day.

Due to the intensive hard labor and beatings by the guards, 29 male practitioners sustained varying degrees of injuries, and some even lost consciousness. They included Mr. Peng Geng, Mr. Feng Gang, Mr. Liu Qingming, and Mr. Yang Chuanjun. Mr. Yang Chuanjun collapsed and fell into a coma for over 10 hours, and Mr. Peng Geng had injuries on his face and fingers.

The guards also ordered practitioners to kneel on the gravel with very heavy weights on their shoulders. Mr. Peng Geng was tortured like this many times, until he became disfigured.

Female practitioners were also forced to work on the fields beginning in June 2000. Ms. Yan Shuqin fainted in the paddy field due to her poor health and old age.

Carried in a basket to work the fields

The male practitioners had to work the cornfields. Female practitioners were also made to do this at a later date. According to local villagers, labor camp officials used to pay 30 yuan a day to hire people for this work, but hardly any of them were willing to do it.

Labor camp officials required all practitioners, regardless their age or physical condition, to do this work. They had to work at least 14 hours every day, sometimes even longer. This often lasted for 15 days straight. The practitioners were exhausted and had many injuries, either from being beaten or from the rigors of the job. Many guards often said, “If you don’t do this work, how can we make any money?”

Dalian practitioner Mr. Lu Kaili was taken to Masanjia in 2000, for a term of one year. He was once ordered to stand under the baking sun for a long period of time and was not allowed to move. Other practitioners detained with him included Dalian practitioners Mr. Han Fei, Mr. Feng Gang (who later died as a result of torture) and Mr. Tian Jun. Guards took away Mr. Tian’s labor camp uniform, so that he was totally exposed to the sun. They also did not allow him to have any water to drink. When his mother came to visit him, he asked her for water because he was so thirsty.

Mr. Lu Kaili

Male practitioners were forced to do hard labor every day. They had to grow corn and rice, but were given minimal food to eat each day. As a result of the long term malnutrition, physical fatigue, and mental stress, Mr. Lu Kaili’s feet swelled and he was unable to walk. Nonetheless, guards still forced him work in the fields, and ordered inmates to carry him in a basket to the cornfield to work. In protest of such cruel treatment, Mr. Lu and several other practitioners went on hunger strikes a few times during their one-year detention. One of the hunger strikes in April 2001 lasted for more thanane month. Guards force-fed them with food, alcohol, hot pepper powder, and salt.

Practitioners were often beaten to the point of bleeding. Salt would then be poured into the wound and they would be forced to stand under the baking sun for long periods of time. Sometimes, inmates were ordered to beat practitioners for 18 days at a time. As a result of these beatings, the practitioners were covered with bleeding sores. The blood caused their clothes to stick to their flesh, and the sores often bled as they worked in the fields.

Mr. Lu is currently detained in Jinzhou Prison. It has been two years and eight months since he became paralyzed due to the persecution, and he is unable to take care of himself. His family is not allowed to visit him, nor is he allowed to seek medical treatment or legal advice.

Pus and maggots ooze from ulcerated wound

When one practitioner protested the torture in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, the guards struck him hard across the back with a wooden board. With no treatment, the injury became ulcerated, and over a period of time, pus and maggots started oozing out of it.

When Mr. Cui Chuanjun was detained at Masanjia, the guards hung him up on a wall for more than three weeks. They also put rope around each of his limbs and stretched him out.

Riding on a wooden block

In August 2000 practitioners saw the torture called “riding on a wooden block.” Each block was made of hard wood about 5 inches wide and 1 yard long and had sharp edges. Three practitioners were forced to sit on one block, with their legs on either side. From sitting on the block, especially if not wearing thick clothes, one’s buttocks soon start to hurt and bleed. The sores turn into scabs and then callouses.

Forced to clean the street and dumpster inside the camp

One practitioner who was previously detained in Masanjia said, “I was held for three months at the Masanjia Juvenile Labor Camp. It was August 2000 and there were 34 of us. Soon afterward, we were transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. For about a year, male practitioners were responsible for cleaning the main street and dumpsters inside the camp.”

Shocked with electric batons

Division 3 in Unit 1 of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp was a place specifically set up to torture practitioners. After it was opened on September 29, 2008, all male practitioners from Units 1 and 2 of the camp, as well as practitioners from other cities, were transferred to Division 3. Over 100 practitioners were detained there, and the guards used various methods to torture them. Officer Wang Yanmin said many times that he had two death allotments and would give them to anyone who needed it. All the electric batons used to torture practitioners had a voltage of 800,000 volts.

When Mr. Luo Cungui, 55, was tortured, he shouted, “Falun Dafa is good!” Guards then shocked him in the mouth for half an hour. His mouth was swollen and his teeth were loosened. Despite his obvious injuries, the guards did not stop and continued to shock his face, neck, and other parts of his body for more than two hours. Because he refused to give up his belief, the guards made him stand and handcuffed him to the upper level of a bunk bed for three days.

Mr. Zheng Xujun, a PhD graduate from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was shocked with electric batons by five guards for more than an hour. Guard Li Meng then tortured Mr. Zheng himself, and made him stand facing a wall in the hallway. Other than eating and the use of the toilet, Mr. Zheng had to stand there from 5:20 a.m. till midnight. This was repeated every day for one week. Another practitioner, Mr. Sun Shuchen, mentally collapsed as a result of intensive electric shocks.

Brutal stretching torture

Mr. Cai Chao, 22, once had his feet tied to the beam of the lower bunk bed and his legs were against the head of the lower bunk. His hands were cuffed and his body was bent forward with his arms stretched out. The guards used a rope to stretch his hands forward. If the guards felt that his hands had gone numb, they released him and then repeated the torture 10 minutes later. During that time, guards also shocked his neck, hands, stomach, and back. They tortured Mr. Cai this way three times over five hours. After he was let down, he could not raise his arms or stand up, and it took him one and a half months to recover. Mr. Li Hailong was also stretched three times over three and a half hours. Even two months later he could not walk normally.

Mr. Sun Yi was shocked with electric batons and beaten and then was forced to stand for two months. His legs swelled and bled from many open sores. He became very thin and extremely weak.

Toxic Drugs Given to Falun Gong Practitioners in Anhui Province Forced Labor Camp

May 20, 2013 | By a Minghui correspondent in Anhui Province, China

(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in Anhui Province Forced Labor Camp tortured Falun Gong practitioners physically and spiritually using very cruel means. In order to “transform” practitioners, they injected them with toxic drugs and beat them violently. Several examples are listed below.

Injected with unknown drugs

On November 21, 2007, officials in Anhui Province Forced Labor Camp detained Ms. Fang Cui’e, a practitioner from Tongling City, in an isolated cell. About 20 days later, Ms. Fang Cui’e was so mentally disordered that she couldn’t eat or wear clothes. She couldn’t fall asleep. Her family suspected that guards had injected her with unknown drugs that undermined her central nervous system. An eyewitness saw the jail doctor inject her with drugs on numerous occasions. One time a police officer said, “If we didn’t inject her with this drug, she would collapse immediately.” It’s not clear what kind of drugs they gave her.

One day, Ms. Fang shouted “Falun Dafa is good” at the entrance of the dining hall. Zi Lingling pulled her to the second floor, where Sheng Shiqin, Zhou Mingfeng, Lin Yun, and other officers handcuffed her. Ms. Fang shouted again “Falun Dafa is good!” Then police officers pulled her into an isolated cell, where she was handcuffed for a long time and not allowed to use the restroom.

They then injected her with an unknown cocktail of drugs, which caused her to lose consciousness. One night at 2:00 am, when officer Zhou Mingfeng saw Ms. Fang awake, she injected her immediately. Ms. Fang lost consciousness again. Ms. Fang Cui’e was tortured so severely that she became very skinny and weighed hardly anything.

Drugs mixed into food

In 2008, the guards attempted to shift the blame onto Falun Gong by poisoning a practitioner who was detained in an isolated cell. They mixed an unknown drug into her food and asked an inmate to deliver it to her. This practitioner was aware of the problem, because she felt herself sweat and her heart beat faster after eating just a mouthful.

In the following days, this practitioner continued to be given drugged food, so she did not eat until another group of guards and inmates (drug abusers) came on duty .

One month before this practitioner was released, the guards who had attempted to poison her opened her personal drawer and mixed the drug into her milk powder. When the practitioner noticed similar symptoms when she drank the milk, she stopped drinking that milk powder.

Drugs mixed in water

In 2007, the guards ordered the inmate who monitored practitioner Ms. Gao Chengmei to put drugs into her water cup. One day, Ms. Gao saw that the water in her cup looked muddy. She asked the inmate, “What did you put into my cup?” The inmate said, “It’s the antihypertensive drug that the commander asked me to put into your cup.”

The guards tortured Falun Gong practitioners by using drugs and made them mentally disordered. Instead of feeling guilty, they told people who were unclear about the truth of Falun Gong, “Look at these Falun Gong practitioners. They became insane after practicing Falun Gong.”

Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day

On Marienplatz Square, Falun Gong practitioners put up banners, lotus flowers and colorful balloons. Posters and photographs were also displayed showing how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) brutally persecutes Falun Gong practitioners.

Practitioners from Munich and other places in Bavaria participated in the event. Some practitioners drove long distances to join the celebration.

Nelson, the event organizer said, “Today’s event is very special. Falun Dafa has been spread around the world for 21 years. This year is the 14th World Falun Dafa Day. Falun Gong brings people good health, and shows us a way to return to one’s true self. This is wonderful. Any Falun Gong practitioner will be happy to share this joy with others. Therefore, we are celebrating the special day together. Many practitioners work during the week, some live very far away, but they still have made the effort to come.”

Nelson also said that although the event was a celebration, they still felt compelled to inform the public of the CCP’s crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. “This is everyone’s concern. We must stop this inhuman persecution,” he said.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang came from another city for the event. She said, “As soon as I arrived here, I felt at home. It seems that many sentient beings are waiting to learn the truth. After I told them about the CCP persecuting Falun Gong, they were shocked. They couldn’t believe it is still happening. They signed the petition and showed their appreciation for our efforts.”

Toronto: Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day With a Rally and Parade (Photos)

May 19, 2013 | By Zhang Yun in Toronto

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Toronto, Canada rallied at City Hall on May 13, 2013, to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day. A number of government officials attended the event in person to show their support for Falun Gong, and practitioners danced, sang, and recited poetry.

In the afternoon, the practitioners paraded through Chinatown. Along the route, many people took photos and video of the parade. Some Chinese people said that they wanted to keep a photo for their own memory, others wanted to post them on online forums in China to help make more Chinese people aware of the popularity of Falun Gong around the world.

Falun Gong practitioners and supporters paraded in Toronto to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day

The Divine Land Marching Band led the parade, followed by a huge model of the book Zhuan Falun. At the end of the procession were the waist drummers.

I Know They Will Delete My Posts, But I Will Still Post Them Anyway

Mr. Qin works in IT and was sent to Toronto only one month ago by his company in Beijing. Hearing the band playing outside, he came out of his office to have a look.

“I didn’t expect to see so many [Falun Gong practitioners]. It is awesome,” he said. “You won’t see anything like this in China. I must record it and send it back to China.” Asked where he wanted to send the video, Qin said, “I will send it to my friends and relatives. I will also post it on the web. As for the online forums in China, I guess the posts will be removed by the web administrator the next day. But even so, I will still post them first so the folks in China can see the free world outside. Especially to see how strong Falun Gong is.”

While making the recording, he murmured to himself, “Whoa! So many people in the parade. It’s my lucky day!” Later when he saw a Falun Gong practitioner passing out flyers along the procession, he quickly took one and said that he wanted to learn more online.

Two Countries, Two Worlds

As the procession was marching down the streets in Chinatown, Mr. Li from Shandong Province in China made a video recording on his smart phone. He said that he had come to Toronto only one week before. Li said, “This is unimaginable in China. For such a large scale parade, the Communist authorities would surely use the army, tanks and cannons to crack down on people. People here have so much freedom. A parade can even have policemen to clear the roads and protect them. China and Canada are like two countries in two different worlds.

“Actually many Chinese people know what is good and what is bad in their hearts. It is only because they live under a dictatorship, they have no other choices.”

Mr. Zhang came from south China two days before the parade. He stood on the sidewalk and watched the parade in Chinatown, Toronto. “It is a surprise to see so many people practicing Falun Gong and so many people supporting Falun Gong.” He said that he already knew that the Chinese regime forbids people to practice Falun Gong and he was shocked to see so many practitioners and supporters in Canada.

I Respect Them for Persisting for Over a Decade

Maria is a retired teacher who has lived in downtown Toronto for decades. She smiled and nodded at the parade marching down the road in front of her. “I know Falun Gong, I understand Falun Gong and I know the truth. For more than a decade, I have seen the Falun Gong practitioners passing out flyers and talking to people in Chinatown every day. I support them and I respect them,” she said.

She continued, “I know the Chinese Communist Party is evil and is persecuting such a good group of people who believe in Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. The gods won’t allow it. I hope Falun Gong practitioners will continue their efforts. Actually I know a lot of people support them. With more people to help end the persecution, I believe the day will come soon.”
