(Minghui.org) The Art of Zhen Shan Ren (Truth, Compassion, Tolerance) International Exhibition was held in the majestic granite structure of Wisconsin’s State Capitol building in Madison, on September 4-11, 2013.

The exhibition is an extraordinarily moving, intimate and inspiring exhibition detailing both an inner spiritual life and an outer human rights tragedy.

Realistic oil paintings and Chinese watercolors from mostly Chinese artists give a unique insight into the spiritual discipline of Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa.

Four girls who attended the exhibition together, said that they were shocked to find out that kindhearted people who follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are being persecuted in China.

A tourist from Mexico could not hold back his tears when he told a practitioner, “I can understand the deeper meaning of the paintings and that Falun Gong practitioners in China are being persecuted because of their belief.”

He said that he appreciated all of the time and effort that the practitioners had put into arranging the exhibition.

After viewing the paintings, a student club leader from the University of Wisconsin asked a practitioner about the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong and its crime of harvesting organs from living practitioners.

“In July 1999, the Chinese regime initiated the brutal persecution of Falun Gong,” explained a practitioner. “The persecution, including live organ harvesting, is still taking place in China. The paintings are based on true life stories.”

After listening carefully and taking notes, the student asked the practitioner if he would mind sharing the practice of Falun Gong with her club.

Over the course of eight days, several hundred people viewed the paintings. Many attendees wrote uplifting comments in the exhibition guest book and praised the practitioners for their efforts in bringing the paintings to their city.

She was sentenced to 9 years in prison by the Qingyunpu District Court in October 2006 and incarcerated in the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison. Due to inhumane torture, she suffered a mental collapse in the prison. She was released on September 7, 2013.

Tortured by Police

Officers from the Qingyunpu District Police Department and Daishan Police Station broke into the homes of Ms. Chen Wen, Mr. Chen Xiangyang, Ms. Zhang Shujun, Ms. Huang Liqiong, and Mr. Xuan Haijin on March 28, 2006, and illegally arrested them.

The police took them to the Daishan 510 Hotel in Qingyunpu District the next afternoon and tortured them there for two days.

Ms. Zhang Shujun was hung up by handcuffs, so that her feet could not touch the ground. The director and deputy director of the Daishan Police Station, captain of the Qingyunpu District Police Department Zhang Jun, and policeman Deng Xiangyang ordered another officer to open Ms. Zhang’s legs 180 degrees apart. They tortured Ms. Zhang in this way for six hours and deprived her of sleep. When she started to close her eyes, they would order an officer to violently beat her. Policeman Deng Xiangyang violently hammered Ms. Zhang’s toes until her feet bled.

Ms. Chen Wen suffered the same torture.

Mr. Duan Zhihu and His Family Persecuted for Practicing Falun Gong

October 21, 2013 | By a Minghui correspondent from Gansu Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Duan Zhihu was born in 1949 and is a retired employee of the Jinchuan Group. His wife, Ms. Sun Xiuwen, was born in 1955. Their daughter, Ms. Duan Chunwei, was born in 1981. The whole family has been repeatedly persecuted for their faith in Falun Gong.

Currently, Mr. Duan and his wife are detained in a detention center. Their daughter has been released because of a medical condition.

Arrested and Interrogated

On the evening of August 23, 2013, Mr. Duan and another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Li Dexiang, were heading back home from the Jinchang Cultural Square. Ms. Li’s husband rode a bicycle, with Ms. Li sitting on the back seat. They were stopped by traffic police at an intersection near the Jinchang Restaurant.

After the police searched the bike’s basket, more police arrived at the scene and illegally arrested the couple, as well as Mr. Duan, who had not walked very far away. All three were taken to the Longshou Police Station.

Later in the evening, police (including officer with surname Zhang) went to ransack Mr. Duan’s home. The family did not open the door. The police waited outside until 4 a.m. Nine officers from the Jianchang Police Department’s Domestic Security Division and Longshou Police Station brought Mr. Duan there. They got in and ransacked the place.

Afterward, they took the entire family, as well as some of their personal belongings, to the Longshou Police Station and began to interrogate Mr. Duan and his family. (The officers involved included Qi Cheng.)

The police asked: “What are the Minghui Weekly, DVDs and cards related to Falun Gong used for in your home? Are they for you to read or distribute to others?”

“Who gave you the things found in your room? Your father? Your Mother? Or someone else? They could not be made in your home, could they? Speak out. Don’t put a burden on yourself. You will feel relieved after telling us. Don’t get scared.”

“Why do you have so many sealed bags and little bags?”

“Who else do you know?”

“I give you a chance to be meritorious. Just tell us who gave you the things in your room?”

Unlawfully Detained

The police took turns to try to force Mr. Duan and his family to confess to the crimes they did not commit, and then tried to force them to sign the detention warrant. Mr. Duan and his family refused to do so.

Ms. Sun had high blood pressure. After she got to the police station, she didn’t feel well and needed help walking. Despite that, she and Mr. Duan were taken to the Jinchang City Detention Center.

The police took their daughter, Ms. Duan, home and then forced her to take out 10,000 yuan and give it to the Legal Division of the Longshou Police Station as a “security deposit.”

At the same time, agent Zhang from the Jinchuan Police Station called Yao Yongqiang from the Jinchuanlu Police Station many times. He said: “It’s been less than a year since Duan Chunwei was released on bail. The two ‘crimes’ should be put together for prosecution.”

Yao threatened Ms. Duan: “Last year we released you on bail, but you didn’t open the door for us. Now we have the security deposit and this is to constrain you. This time, you must come whenever we call you in, and you must open the door if we come to your home. Otherwise, you will not get the 10,000 yuan back.”

Before Ms. Duan was taken back home, a little after 11 p.m., a stout policeman said to her, “I have something to ask you. Do you want to answer?”

Ms. Duan replied, “I do not.”

The policeman said: “You should be able to answer everything I want to ask you. Do you want to answer or not? You can tell me if you want to, and you don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to.”

Ms. Duan again said, “No, I do not want to answer.”

The policeman then threatened: “It is really because we feel sympathetic toward you that we are taking you home. Do not think that we cannot do something to you. Even with your health situation right now (Ms. Duan’s medical exam showed some illnesses), if we want to take you to jail, we will still be able to. If you don’t cooperate with us, then we will not feel sympathetic toward you anymore.”

He said a many slanderous things toward Falun Gong’s Master. Then they finally took Ms. Duan home.

Previous Arrest

Ms. Sun and Ms. Duan were previously arrested around 9:30 a.m. on September 17, 2012, when they were walking near Jinchuan Park to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong. They did not realize that plainclothes police were following them. Ms. Sun had only distributed two flyers when they were arrested by Yao Yongqian of the Jinchuanlu Police Station, along with another policeman and a female officer.

The mother and daughter were taken to the police station, where they were body-searched. Almost all of their clothes were taken off, and the police even checked under their brassieres.

Their home was ransacked three times in one day, and many of their personal belongings were confiscated.

Ms. Duan was released on bail on September 26, after a medical exam revealed that she was ill. Ms. Sun was released on October 12.

In the year that followed, agents from the Xinhua Road Office and Jinchuanlu Police Station frequently came to their home to harass them.

Parties involved in the persecution:

The police involved in ransacking the family’s home on August 29, 2013, included officers with police numbers 041056, 041003, and 100012.
